Rekindle: A Nature-Based Holiday Club for Tweens & Teens
For ages 11–17 | Wildlings Outdoor Education Hub, Noxon Farm,
near Bream, Forest of Dean
Rekindle is a hands-on, outdoor holiday club designed especially for teenagers aged 11–17 who are curious, creative, and up for a challenge.
Based at our off-grid forest garden allotment
(The Wildlings Outdoor Education Hub) near Bream, this is no ordinary holiday club.
Our base includes a hand-built log cabin roundhouse, a caravan workspace, tool sheds, a small orchard, and a patchwork of wild and cultivated growing spaces. It’s a place where young people can unplug, explore, and build skills for the future – surrounded by nature, fire pits, and good company.
Each day of the week explores one of the core elements – Wood, Fire, Water, and Air – through practical sessions that blend traditional craft, environmental know-how, and creativity.
🪵 🔥💦🌬
From axe skills, kindling, and greenwood carving, to fire-by-friction, foraging, and herbal tea-making, every day brings a new challenge.
🪓🍀🏕
There’s also space for reflective activities – like wish-making rituals, storytelling, and copper or crystal amulet crafting to take home.
🎶꩜⭐️
For budding tree surgeons, ecologists, craftspeople, and anyone who prefers a blade to a keyboard, this is a space to grow real-world confidence.
As we enter a future where AI might take the desk jobs, we believe the most valuable skills are hands-on, heart-led, and rooted in connection to the land.
Whether you’re keen to light a fire with one match, learn how to find clean drinking water, or just hang out somewhere that gets you – Rekindle is a place to feel proud of who you are and what you can do.

🌲 Monday: WOOD – Axe Skills & Fire Prep
Let’s get chopping! In this session, we’ll explore the ancient craft of preparing firewood.
Young people will learn how to identify different types of wood, choose the best kind for burning, and use axes and tools to safely split and shape it.
We’ll make kindling, feedwood, and fire sticks – the perfect prep for building real fires later in the week.
Come ready to get hands-on, build confidence using tools, and understand how the elements begin with the tree.
🔥 Tuesday: FIRE – Flames, Friction & Fire Magic
What is fire – and how do we make it?
Today we’ll dive into the heart of the flame. Using the wood we prepared, we’ll try different fire-starting methods:
bow drills, fire strikers, flint & steel, and the 1 Match Challenge.
We’ll also explore how to build and maintain a fire in different conditions.
To end the session, we’ll gather around the flames for a reflective moment:
write a wish, release something you’re ready to let go of, and offer it to the fire.
💧 Wednesday: WATER – Find It, Filter It, Brew It
Where does clean water come from – and how can we find it in the wild?
In this session, we’ll use simple techniques to explore water safety, purification, and sourcing.
Try your hand at dowsing, learn how to make a basic natural filter, and explore survival methods like solar stills.
We’ll finish with a group forage and brew a delicious herbal tea – made with wild plants and freshly boiled water.
🌬 Thursday: AIR – Kites, Chimes & Paper Flight
Today’s session is all about the invisible force that moves everything – air!
We’ll tune in to what we can feel, hear, and see. Then we’ll create our own wind chimes or kites, and fold origami birds to let the air carry our creativity.
It’s a light-hearted day of play, mindfulness, and movement, inspired by the element that’s always around us – but rarely noticed.
