Rekindle: A Nature-Based Holiday Club for Teenagers

For ages 13–17 | Forest Garden Allotment, near Bream

Rekindle is a hands-on, outdoor holiday club designed especially for teenagers aged 13–17 who are curious, creative, and up for a challenge.
Based at our off-grid forest garden allotment near Bream, this is no ordinary holiday club.

Our base includes a hand-built log cabin roundhouse, a caravan workspace, tool sheds, a small orchard, and a patchwork of wild and cultivated growing spaces. It’s a place where young people can unplug, explore, and build skills for the future – surrounded by nature, fire pits, and good company.

Each day of the week explores one of the core elements – Wood, Fire, Water, and Air – through practical sessions that blend traditional craft, environmental know-how, and creativity.

🪵 🔥💦🌬

From axe skills, kindling, and greenwood carving, to fire-by-friction, foraging, and herbal tea-making, every day brings a new challenge.

🪓🍀🏕

There’s also space for reflective activities – like wish-making rituals, storytelling, and copper or crystal amulet crafting to take home.

🎶꩜⭐️

For budding tree surgeons, ecologists, craftspeople, and anyone who prefers a blade to a keyboard, this is a space to grow real-world confidence.
As we enter a future where AI might take the desk jobs, we believe the most valuable skills are hands-on, heart-led, and rooted in connection to the land.

Whether you’re keen to light a fire with one match, learn how to find clean drinking water, or just hang out somewhere that gets you – Rekindle is a place to feel proud of who you are and what you can do.

📅 Days: Mondays – Thursdays

🗓 Dates: 11th – 27th August 2025
⏰ Session Times: 10am–2pm and 3pm–7pm

🌞 Daily Rhythm at Rekindle

Each day at Rekindle follows a gentle but purposeful rhythm, balancing practical activities with time to connect, rest, and reflect. Sessions run twice a day – a morning session (10am–2pm) and an afternoon session (3pm–7pm) – with the same content offered at both to allow flexibility for families.

Upon arrival, participants are welcomed into our forest garden base with a check-in around the fire circle. We begin by introducing the day’s theme and element – whether that’s chopping wood, filtering water, or flying kites – before diving into the main activity, with plenty of time to learn at their own pace.

There’s always space to take breaks, enjoy a drink or snack, chat with peers, or help out with daily tasks like tending the fire or prepping materials. The rhythm is responsive to the group – allowing for focus, creativity, and natural rest.

Each session ends by gathering back together – to share, reflect, and celebrate what’s been created or learned. From making herbal tea with foraged plants to placing a wish in the fire, these closing moments help build community and confidence.

Who’s Leading the Sessions?

Participants will be guided by Scott Baine, our highly qualified and deeply experienced lead mentor and outdoor educator. With over a decade of experience working with young people, and a lifetime spent outdoors – from living in the wilds of Canada to joining an ancestral clan in Sweden – Scott brings a unique, embodied understanding of nature connection that few can match.

A tanner by trade, qualified NPTC tree surgeon, and skilled bushcraft and greenwood worker, Scott combines traditional know-how with a deep respect for the land and those learning on it.

He now holds a full-time, term-time position at Ruskin Mill College in Stroud, supporting young people with complex needs through craft, land-based learning, and meaningful work.

Known for his calm, grounded presence and his ability to connect authentically with teenagers, Scott creates a safe, empowering space where young people can challenge themselves, grow their confidence, and discover who they are – all while building real skills and strong fires.

Our flexible programme allows for participant choice, and every activity is adapted to suit individual abilities, confidence levels, and sensory needs.

The focus is on developing practical skills, fun, confidence, teamwork, and connection to nature in a supportive, inclusive environment.
